Become a member of the crew aboard the 81' schooner ALCYONE. Sailing from Port Townsend, WA, the ALCYONE sails with up to 6 students/ guests on learning adventures in the inland and coastal waters around Vancouver Island. On 6-day trips the destination is the San Juan Islands, on our twelve day trips we head up the inside passage to Desolation Sound or out to the West Coast to Barkley Sound. In the summer we offer trips for families and youth sail training and in the spring and fall we have adult full-boat and open-bunk trips. We, the Flanagan family,have owned and chartered ALCYONE for seventeen years. During that time we have spent ten seasons chartering in the Pacific NW and have made four open ocean extended trips. The ALCYONE is a well proven comfortable boat with a trditional rig that offers a great opportunity for learning about and enjoying sailing. There are three rowing dories aboard as well as a sailing skiff and inflatable dinghy, which add to the learning opportunity and the fun to be had exploring the local islands.
